I enjoy walking along Jalan Dhoby area where it is kind of rustic atmosphere and surround by historical scenes. The shop is one of the oldest bakeries in JB and they still use a 70-year-old wood fired oven everyday! They make a variety of bread and pastries— all with that old oven. Their Curry puff is one of the best seller, the uncle told me but personally I like ANPAN ( buns with sweet red bean inside) and their fruits cake and banana cake are great as well. A forth-generation family business Salahhuddin is a bakery museum of Johor Bahru, had been witnessing lots of historical events in Johor Bahru.
ジョホールバルーで生まれ育ったローカルならみんな一度はここのパンを口にしているはず。なんと創業当初から使っているオーブンは７０年経った今もフル活用。出来立てのパンは外はカリッとしていて中はとても柔らかい、なんだか給食のコッペパンを思わせるとても懐かしい味。私のいつもの定番はアンパン。４代目ご主人のお姉さんが店番をしていた時、日本人はみんなアンパン好きよねっと言ってました。先ず慣れ親しんでるものに手が出てしまうのは皆一緒のよう。Jalan Dhoby界隈はサラフディンベイカリーのような昔からの古い店が他にも何軒かあって、昔ながらの味をそのまま今に伝えています。昨今たくさんのトレンディなお店が連立しているジョホールバルーですが、それでもローカル達は慣れ親しんだ味を求めて足繁く通って来るんですね。
